Find your

pathway homeward

into midwifery

MAP into Midwifery is designed to feel like you're journeying homeward, toward a place of safety, welcome, and deep belonging.
Our goal is to create a learning environment where everyone feels seen, supported, and empowered. Inclusion isn’t just a value at MAP; it’s woven into the fabric of this program. That means built-in scholarships for those who’ve been historically, persistently, or systemically marginalized in the U.S., and a steadfast commitment to honoring the full spectrum of identities - of both our students and the clients they serve. At MAP, we care for our students the same way we care for families in our practices: with kindness, compassion, respect, and trust.
Learning midwifery should feel like returning to your roots, and growing into who you’re meant to become.

Continue to

navigate onward

through midwifery

MAP through Midwifery is designed to help midwives navigate their way on through the many complexities of midwifery with confidence, clarity, and curiosity. This dynamic series of CEU courses focuses on both emerging knowledge and the kinds of rarely-used but critically important skills that benefit from a thoughtful refresh.
We believe learning should be active, engaging, and applicable, never passive or forgettable. That’s why each MAP course is built to spark understanding, deepen retention, and empower midwives to grow in both skill and confidence.
As with all MAP offerings, there are automatic discounts for groups that have been historically, persistently or systematically marginalized within the US, and we also offer a discount for individuals who have been qualified for less than 5 years.

Laying the Groundwork

For MAP into Midwifery's all-encompassing journey, every personalized pathway we create is built on the same four foundational layers.

For MAP through Midwifery's brief hike, only the first two of these are required, though we ensure the paths are built to provide enjoyable strolls for the many visitors who walk them.

Equity & inclusivity

We have a goal of presenting inclusive material in a culturally sensitive way, have automatic scholarships for historically marginalized groups, and a foundation module on cultural awareness.

Affordability

Fees are kept low to allow better access to midwifery training. Students create resources along the way, and our 'Guided Tour' option includes many physical resources, too.

Built-in off ramps

The six 'Beginnings' and 'Progressions' modules each covers skills that lead to related but distinctly different careers, such as prenatal yoga, doula or medical assistant.

No gaps

Ensuring our students learn everything they need to know to practice safely is a weighty responsibility - we do not take it lightly. On the other hand, we try not to waste time with exercises that teach little.

MAP into Midwifery

Your pathway to this point in your life has been unique;
your pathway into Midwifery will be unique, too.

MAP into Midwifery includes 12 thoughtfully designed modules that blend core midwifery knowledge with skills that support alternative career paths. Each module can be taken as a stand-alone course for those seeking targeted training, or completed as part of the full MAP journey, to qualify for program graduation.

Section A features three foundational courses essential to midwifery practice. Sections B, C, and D dive into the prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum stages, respectively. While the courses in these sections align loosely with Phases 1, 2, and 3 of the PEP process, you are not required to follow a set sequence. Full course descriptions are available in the course catalog.

You can choose between two journey options:

  • The "Map Only" option offers a flexible, lower-cost path with limited support, automatic grading for most assignments, and no physical resources included. You can add on additional support by the hour at a later date, if desired.
  • The "Guided Tour" option includes extensive support via office hours and module-specific tutorial sessions, along with physical materials delivered to your door, or applicable discounts if you prefer to buy or borrow some or all yourself.

You’re encouraged to forge your own path, but for the most rewarding experience, we recommend completing each of Section B-D's Mastery Module only after finishing the earlier modules in that section. Before enrolling in any module as a stand-alone course, please contact MAP to confirm that you’ll have everything you need for a smooth learning experience.

Section A - Principal Principles

Section B - Prenatal

Section C - Labor & Birth

Section D - Postpartum

MAP through Midwifery

Short courses. Long-lasting impact.

MAP through Midwifery CEUs each take us on a brief stroll through a well-loved forest. We know the paths by heart, but some areas have grown and changed since our last visits, and others we’ve only ever glimpsed from a distance or haven't explored in years. These courses are our trail guides: helping us pause, observe, and then take new steps with confidence.

Each CEU includes a fun or practical gift, such as a crocheted placenta pattern, an ice-breaker game for your next midwifery meet-up, or a coupon toward a thoughtfully chosen, relevant book. CEUs cost $50 per hour.

Section E - Principal Principles

Section F - Prenatal

Section G - Labor & Birth

Section H - Postpartum

The where, when and how of MAP into Midwifery

How much?

Full MAP into Midwifery (with/without  discounts): 'Map Only' ($1,810-$4,500) & 'Guided Tour' ($6,799-$11,100). Modules: $100-$950.

Where?

All course material is online, with video call office hours and tutoring and a members' only group for socializing. Treasure MAP is in southern Texas.

How long?

Modules can be started any time, and completed at your own pace. You can work on several at once. The full MAP takes around 1.5-3 years.

What else?

Alongside MAP, you'll need to complete a clinical apprenticeship. For NARM, this must be at least 2 years, with requirements for skills mastered.

What route?

If you choose to sit the national NARM exam, MAP is currently a route to PEP. We're seeking approval as a Texas Midwifery Basic Education Course.
